So, on the other side of the fence, we've all decided what titles we want to write, which is great, and depending on levels of activity and such, we'll all hit continuity...so, I am curious here -
If you had the opportunity to write a second title, what would you choose?
I'd thought of two titles I'd like to have a go at, and one I very nearly tried to discuss with Jordan, in the form of Batwoman.
Batwoman, a bit like her original incarnation under Rucka, would deal with the more Ubran legendy/vaguely mystical side of the DC world, without overtly tipping over into the magic stuff. So, her supporting team would mostly be women and minor/vaguely mystical people, and she'd be more focused on dealing with the Urban legends and monsters that spring up out of Gotham, rather than the big villains - like Whisper D'Aire.
A second title, would be more like, Aquaman, but dealing with him as an Environmental Avatar, rather than an Atlantean King. BIT of a departure, but I'd want to do more with Arthur Joseph Curry, rather than Orin, because I liked the "Fantasy" element that Waid brought when he did Sword of Atlantis. Underwater Conan appears to be what they're going with now for the movies anyway....

Earth 2: The Soceity almost came into being before I decided on doing a Superman epic. If things go well, I will claim it for a second title and will focus on legacy and what the world could be like if Superheroes existed since the late 30's.

Tell me more about Earth-2? I know you mentioned it (In fact, during the "I have doubts" moment in Legion, I considered an Earth-2 title as well, but remembered you wanted to do it at a later date)

If I ever get to writing anything here (and I really hope I do) it could be one of a few things. First, I might adapt my Ultimate plans for the Flash. Bringing it over here would actually provide better context for the story where there's not a world where superhumans have been known for a long time. I potentially could also do a GL title. I'm really interested in exploring the cosmos of the DCU and putting my own twists on them. Lastly, I've got Green Arrow and ARGUS (separate titles) ideas, but those I've just very vaguely developed.
Interesting choice to explore a whole 'nother world when this one is so young, SK. Not necessarily good or bad, just interesting.

Lot of options there Drake, particularly with Flash. I hope what I am planning doesn't ruin your ideas for him - it shouldn't do, as I am sticking primarily to the "Future" side of DC, but still. If you wanted to discuss, perhaps, then drop me a PM. Failing that, those seem like pretty decent options, if you ask me - Particularly the Cosmos of the DCU, I've always wanted to blend in some of the modern DC Aliens into the Legion, so that is something I am considering, in due course, but first...Volume #1 as I am calling it

Got bored and couldn't bring myself to write Guardians of the Galaxy, so I typed up this. It's not finished, but if I ever get to claiming something here, my claims list would look something like--
Title: ARGUS
Heroes: Steve Trevor, Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond), Martin Stein, Green Lantern (Simon Baz), Hawkwoman (Kendra Munoz-Saunders), Atlee Villains: Vandal Savage, The Light, Grant Wilson (Ravager I), Black Hand (William Hand), Typhoon (David Drake), Support: Undefined: Amanda Waller, Caitlin Snow (Killer Frost), Deathstroke (Slade Wilson), Scandal Savage Wallpaper: ARGUS (Advanced Research Group Uniting Superhumans), Adeline Kane, Lillian Worth

That's certainly an interesting mix there - How come you're going for Hawkwoman/girl, without Hawkman?
I assume you'd be building ARGUS into, perhaps, a DC equivalent of SHIELD?

I have no interest in the Hawkman/Hawkgirl relationship but I do like Earth 2's Hawkgirl, who my Hawkwoman would be based off of. She provides a unique personality, power set, and connection to the magical side of things that the title really needs.
Yeah, it would be a big time Hickman-like SHIELD story where I deal with the past of our world and present, global level threats.

I know you mentioned it (In fact, during the "I have doubts" moment in Legion, I considered an Earth-2 title as well, but remembered you wanted to do it at a later date) Well, superheroes have existed since the 40's. Some are still active, a few retired, and others have passed on the mantle. One of the subplots deal with the fact that there is a new Batman in town and no one knows who he is or if has any connections to the original. Jay Garrick complementing retirement when a brand new Flash reveals him/herself (The new Flash won't be Barry, Wally, or even Bart. There are other Flashes after all). Superman trying to cope with [redacted] and the fact that a descendant of Lex Luthor is [redacted]. And a brand new hero trying to prove that he/she can keep up with everyone. Plus, some flashbacks to various parts of history of Earth 2.

Drake - I also like the Hawkgirl of Earth-2, but, I have to say, since Jameson left, I've been really disliking it, and Worlds End even more. I was, actually, a big fan of Hawgirl, in her Kendra Saunders guise at the start of JSA. I thought that was particularly fun, especially as it turned the Hawkman/Hawkwoman mythos on it's head.
I'm a pretty big JSA fan, actually.
And Hickman's SHIELD is certainly something to try to emulate!
SK - Earth-2 - What made you want to consider doing something set on an Alternate Earth? I appreciate that we're free to do whatever, but, for example, why not do the Justice Society in the world we're building? Is it the freedom to do your own Batman, and build your own world?
Also, I agree. I have plans for Kid-Flash that expands, a little tiny bit, on the time travelling elements of the Flash(es), but nothing that would, say, disrupt the plans of other writers.
As far as my own plans go - I think the Batwoman title I was considering would be a nice accompaniment to Jordan's view on Batman currently - a slightly more mystical version, but I believe it's too early to bring in the derivative characters, when we've not even established the others yet - A big falling point, I thought for other sites, was bringing in Batgirl and such before Batman was properly established.

Basically the freedom to do everything without worrying on stepping on other people toes. But, it will be very much connected to the universe that Gotham City and Superman are set in. I'm hopping for Legion to be the bridge, but I have an idea for what the connection is if that doesn't work out.

I feel the same way about Earth 2. James Robinson was what made it special. I have to disagree on the Ultimate DC jab, especially with how so few of the "Bat characters" are actually related to Batman on that site.

I said other sites, not Ultimate DC, I'm not taking a jab, nor would I.
I am referring to another site, called DC Omega. They built a Batwoman and Batgirl title without a Batman, which seemed a bit daft to me.

Fair enough then. I have no experience with that site so I can't judge, but that does seem odd.

So, just reviving some other threads - I notice there are other people out there now - what are your thoughts?
Having thought a bit more, and actually looking at proposing something at the other UDC, but I really don't think I will, was the idea of doing something like Animal Man/Swamp thing, but with Alan Scott as the "Green" avatar instead of Alec Holland (I realise that it isn't possible at UDC, but go with me for a moment). One of the multitude of things that has irritated me about Earth-2 and Worlds End was the lazy way in which they presented the other Avatars. In comparison with the Earth-0 world, Earth-2 is bloody lazy. GL was a great way to present something new, but the subsequent Avatars were pretty crappy. So my idea was to do something similar, an Environmental Parliament, with characters like GL for the Green, Immortal Man for the Red, Dr Midnight for the Vapors, etc etc.
What do other people think? I notice someone mentioned something about Detective Comics?

I think that sounds great!
EDIT: I'm with you in that I feel the weekly butchered the Avatars story line's potential. It's one of the many reasons I dropped it.

You know, I have lots of ideas but it's a case of what do I choose?
Originally, I was going to start off with a Flash series, which is actually what I think I am going to re-propose, but, there are other things...I've never written the Flash, and as stated before, I am really poor with Origin stories. I tend to just start in the middle of the story. I'm a very concept driven writer - so, yes, I really need to set out what I want to do properly, and then go for it.
Expect me to re-up my own claims again in the April thread this week.

Go for what you feel is best. I, for one, would love to read your take on the Flash. Hell, I wouldn't worry about the origin if I were you unless it's integral to the plot. The TV show's such a hit that I imagine everyone on these sites has to know the basics by now (if they didn't already). Even if you use Wally, Bart or Jay it could remain incredibly similar.

I suck at origins too, so I feel ya. I like to start in the middle of stories and only go back to the origins if I absolutely have to. It may not work for your story, but it may.
Anyway, since Detective is claimed, I'm now on Hellblazer, and I don't see Gotham City ever going to fruition, anyone interested in where it was all going?

Yeah...What was the plan for your Gotham Plan, I'd be interested in it - I feel my problem is always the concepts, and not always the character - I look to the future too much, which is why I have come acropper with Legion, at the moment.
